more london dates, compilation album news, bleep update

Greetings once again.

First up let’s specify that UNCH010 is now definitely, categorically available for sale at the ridiculous price of just £1.75 on bleep… check it right out.

It’s also now available through all good record shops as well as direct. If you can’t find it in your local shop, tell them it is distributed by Cargo, if you are outside the UK then drop us a mail and we’ll find out who the local distributor is for you.

There’s things a-stirring in compilation land! Firstly, our spiritual home of Ginglik is about to drop a CD entitled ‘Rhythms Re-Lik’ which features a host of acts to have played there on a Saturday night. naturally it features two uncharted contributions, namely an exclusive track by Kone-R, one of his finest moments actually, and also the first non-digital appearance of Line‘s fabulous remix of LJ Kruzer‘s ‘Schloopergloo’:

To celebrate the release of this tour de force, Ginglik are doing what they do best, throwing a party! Check the full list of dates below for more info. On the subject of comps, we are also putting the finishing touches to the first and extremely long-awaited Uncharted Audio compilation. This is going to feature a stellar line-up of acts, some you’ll know, some you won’t, all have either recorded for the label or appeared at one of our sessions at some point so expect only the highest quality. Expect an absolute banger tonight as we hook up with one of the original masters of UK rave and one of the current crop most likely to be spotted in a celeb magazine. When Wrongtom played the session last time it was an absolute roadblock and considering that the previous three have been filled to capacity, you know to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Two incredible dj’s, one other very credible dj, west london’s finest venue, loads of booze, it’s time to party down!

Finally we want to thank everyone who came to any of last month’s UK Freezepop dates, every one was great and the band appreciated it enormously. Don’t forget to keep an eye on their website for news on their third album… we can’t wait!

Digitonal are performing with their full line-up, so expect a fusion of classical strings, harp, violin and tasty beats, the like of which has seen the band garner wide critical acclaim. Warming up the party vibe we have Mariah Scarey, a new pseudonym of Josh Doherty, better known as one half of Posthuman. Additional DJ support comes from resident Kone-R and John Power, the man behind Furthur and the new Poke Records store on Denman Street. Expect a combo of acid house, electro, italo disco plus the odd bootleg mashup for good measure.

Once again, Ginglik will be transformed with a top notch lightshow, anyone who was at last month’s Uncharted Megarave will testify that the Uncharted Sessions is instilling itself as one of the capital’s premier regular electronica events… come and see what all the fuss is about, as this month sees guest appearances supplied by fellow London Electrics co-founders Seed Records and Furthur.

The Uncharted sessions continue apace this month, with head honcho Kone-r celebrating his birthday by gathering together the cream of the ua crop! Ginglik will be transformed with an incredible light show and live visuals from the spectralists, whilst the music itself will be supplied by cursor miner, line and s.w.a.n.k. – all performing live on stage. special guest dj’s will complete the lineup.

all this will be happening at Ginglik, 1 shepherds bush green W12 (that’s underneath the green, opposite the central line station), running from 8pm-2am but please note there is no entry after midnight. it’s 4 quid to get in. ginglik is members-only but membership is free and available on the door – just bring ID.

Uncharted sessions – January 28th

First up, a happy new year to you all…

The uncharted sessions returns to Ginglik from it’s xmas hiatus on Saturday the 28th of January. and it’s gonna be a cracker! we’re over the moon to announce our special guest this month is one of the UK’s most criminally underrated talents.

John Callaghan is an unusual songwriter / performer of thoughtful and spiky electronica from Birmingham (UK). His live performances are energetic and imaginative, and range from one-man Auto-Karaoke shows to specially written dancefloor sets (expect a bit of both tonight!). He is 173cm tall, weights 73kg and has a blood pressure of 110/60Hg.

John was responsible for two of the finest records ever to be released on Warp.

Joining John on the bill will be Regolith – the duo of Dave Graham and Graeme Ross performing live, creating ‘music on a geological scale’ – click the link for free mp3’s. Finally we are also joined by DJ Fil from fellow London Electrics label SRL. Fil will be dropping the finest in classic acid, house and techno, alongside resident jock Kone-R.

This Saturday, one man sonic universe Max Tundra (aka Ben Jacobs) graces our decks. His two long-players ‘Some Best Friend You Turned Out To Be’ and ‘Mastered By Guy At The Exchange’ received widespread critical acclaim (‘Utterly brilliant’ – Time Out, ‘A shot in the arm and a slap round the head’ – NME). He’s remixed Mogwai, Turin Brakes and the Futureheads among others, and performed at some of the world’s leading festivals.
Max Tundra is currently writing his third album for the Domino label. In the meantime he is keeping himself financially afloat by performing deliriously eclectic DJ sets for anyone who wants to dance to Frank Zappa, Deerhoof, Yes, Kimitaka Matsumae, Cabaret Voltaire, Bill Nelson, Ariel Pink, Autechre, The Waitresses, Talking Heads, Akufen, Vicious Pink, Joanna Newsom and anything else you wouldn’t normally hear coming out of the same set of speakers in one sitting. This may well include the fusing together of a Captain Beefheart and Daft Punk record.

Line
Brighton-born, Dutch-raised, Nottingham-based Neil Wells aka Line spins out glowing lo-fi electro love songs that seem touched equally by the hands of folk and gabba. Uncharted Audio were impressed with his grimey-breaks-meets-synthpop soundclash after he sent them a demo; he has drawn high praise for his appearances on Delta 9’s ‘D9 Plastics’ compilation and has further compilation appearances imminent with London Electrics and Ginglik. Tonight, expect the first public airing of material from his forthcoming debut mini-lp, ‘Tech Hits’, due soon on Uncharted.

Pete Stormcrow & Dancon1
Two DJs who play out frequently on the electronica circuit. They reside at Law & Auder’s long-running Rehabilitation nights at The Foundry, also co-running the popular Moonpalace electronica nights and more recently have started their own series of events – disco_r.dance. Expect everything from post punk to dub to gorgeous electronica

Kone-R
Uncharted honcho Kone-R completes the night, celebrating the release of his debut 7″ on the label, exclusive limited edition version available to buy on the night. Expect the usual rinse-out of cutting edge techno, electro, disco and synthpop.

As mentioned above, our very own Kone-R has a 7″ single due, you can pick it up before it hits the shops by getting it from us direct, and there’s a limited edition package available with a bonus full-length mix cd, pin badge and stickers, full details here.

We’ve broken the habit of a lifetime and can now offer digital downloads via our buddies over at Bleep. Only the LJ Kruzer album is currently available but keep an eye out as more of the back catalogue will be added soon.

You can download a free LJ Kruzer remix and propel him up the German download charts. This is a reworking of a track by Savoy Grand, a rather excellent band who feature in their line-up one Neil Wells (aka Line!).
