all the rave action you need

Massive amounts of LARGE rave action coming your way in the next few weeks, kicking off with the latest instalment of the Uncharted Sessions….

Special Guest this month on the Wheels of Steel, we welcome DUB KULT:
His records get props from everyone from LA Williams and Richard Grey to Ricardo Villalobos and Andy Weatherall, even Sven Vath. He’s recently put out tunes through Warp’s off shoot, Arcola, HET, Reverberations and influential German label Raum…Musik, plus he’s already done the soundtrack for Channel 4’s Burning Man film, the Tomorrow’s World Live show and legendary fetish fashion show The Torture Garden. Most recently, he’s been added to the roster of Shefield’s Dust Science label.
Dub doesn’t serve up an arid musical mono-culture, but a rich mix. The diversity of his music is a reflection of his background – half-Indian, half-English, part-time member of both the cool crowd and the geek gaggle, neither definitively house nor techno, sometimes deep, sometimes hard – but always infused with some kind of off-kilter alien funk – danceable yet lush music that has both attitude and soul.

As always, support comes from UA boss, Kone-R

Ginglik, 1 Shepherds Bush Green W12 8PH (opposite the Central Line tube station, under the green itself)

Saturday 23rd October 9pm – midnight, 3 quid to get in unless you’ve got full Ginglik membership in which case it’s free

uncharted sessions 25/09

UNCHARTED AUDIO VS LO-BOT MUSIC
Saturday 25th September @ Ginglik, 1 Shepherds Bush Green (opposite the central line station, in the middle of the green and looking rather like a public toilet)

with DJ’s: Kone-R, Smilex, Braiken, J. Bolus and Dutty B

The Robot Music DJ’s (Smilex, Braiken & J.Bolus) traverse London for an East Vs. West Tag-Team battle on the wheels of steel. Weapons of choice will feature Electro, Bass, Breaks, Techno, Dubstep & Grime…………..

They face the Charles Atlas of electronica himself – Uncharted Audio honcho and resident dj Kone-R.

The final missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle comes in the form of the “Hawtin-esque” Dutty B, Lo Recordings resident DJ extraordinaire, armed with electro and techno killers (records, not homicidal androids).

snapmouth live and celebrate cursor miner’s 30th!

Yes it’s that time of the month once again when we return to London’s finest underground venue for the UNCHARTED SESSIONS! This month, on Saturday 28th of August, we’re going to be getting falling-down drunk to the sounds of SNAPMOUTH performing live as we celebrate the 30th birthday of none other than Cursor Miner… so come and join in the debauchery and help us give him the bumps!

LIVE – SNAPMOUTH:

“…how can you not like a track called Youre Ugly, that begins: ‘You there, with the rugby neck!’…Popbitch Satire, the next big thing. Possibly.” (Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 1)

Snapmouth: reported to be the subversively comedic alter-ego’s of Seed Records founders, and tube station party curators Posthuman. Dirty, dirty electro pop with overtones of broken beats, 70’s glamrock and late eighties public-awareness video hiphop – all wrapped up with a solid disdain for all that is fashionable and trendy in the world of young bohemian yuppies, overgroomed city slickers and new media celebrity assholes. Feared by A&R executives who are sure its a Channel 4 “Faking it” setup ready to expose and humiliate their fading grip on the music scene as they all desperately scrabble to sign yet-another-rock-revival band, Snapmouth is all about one thing: getting drunk and dancing to funked up hardass beats and unstoppably catchy riffs with a big side serving of tongue-in-cheekness. let the party begin.

DJ support comes, as ever, from the one, the only FA qualified Charles Atlas of electronica himself.. KONE-R

(As a special birthday treat we’re also allowing CURSOR MINER off the leash to spin some tunes in the warmup slot so be sure to get down early for some experimental treats!)

Returning from a recent hiatus we also have the special visual delights of HED THORAX and EXPLODI… watch out!

Find us at GINGLIK, 1 Shepherds Bush Green W12 8PH (yes its the converted public toilet under the green but don’t let that put you off it is LUSH inside!!) Doors 9pm-midnight, entry a paltry 3 quid unless you’ve taken advantage of Ginglik’s annual membership scheme in which case it’s free.

uncharted sessions… one step beyond

Uncharted Audio is proud to present the Uncharted Sessions vol. 4
with VERY special guests DIGITONAL (live) featuring KIRSTY HAWKSHAW

@ Ginglik, 1 Shepherds Bush Green, London
17/07/04 Doors 9pm-Midnight 3 quid entry/free to full Ginglik members

Kirsty Hawkshaw first came to public prominence in the early 90’s with the number one dance single ‘Fine Day’ with Opus 3. A massive and influential record, this provided Kirsty with a platform to expand her musical vistas and collaborate with a host of pioneers in electronic music including Orbital, Steve Hillage, Rachid Taha, Spooky and Drum Club. It was her vocals that provided Orbital with arguably two of their finest moments – ‘Halcyon’ and ‘Lush’. Since then Kirsty has gone on to work with some of today’s leading electronica/dance producers and artists including Hybrid, Ian Pooley, Way Out West, Tiesto and Global Communication.

Digitonal are playing in the Sanctuary Tent on the Friday night, from 11pm-12pm at this year’s Big Chill festival. They will be joined for this performance by a singer with whom they have been working for the past few months, on both her album and new Digitonal material. That singer is none other than ambient legend Kirsty Hawkshaw, best known for her work with Opus III and Orbital, and her own superb album, < O.U.T >. They’ll be playing a bit of a hybrid set of their material and hers, all given that Digitonal twist. Expect lushness…

There is one low-key warmup for this gig, which will be taking place at Ginglik in Shepherds Bush on 17th of July as part of a monthly event hosted by the Uncharted Audio record label, with whom Digitonal also recently travelled to perform in France. Watch out for dates later this year in Berlin, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham as well as a series of other festival dates in the UK and Europe in August.
